The second tale in The Artama Legend series of speculative fiction is Artama & The Watchtower Portal: The Second Journey, a YA novella.
In this sequel to the original parable, Artama & The Book of Knowledge & Wisdom, some time has passed since Artama returned to The Town from across The Plain with the miraculous amber ointment . . . and his revolutionary message.
In time, upon the arrival of Zortan’s beastly horde, the people of The Town are threatened with a fiery death. To save his father and The Town, Artama bravely steps forward with a bold plan.
Now, Artama must confront his fate: Among the countless stars, there is but one decision to make.
Journey with Artama across The Plain, through the watchtower portal, and find, once again, wondrous Kora—now a young woman—on another world—a world where things are very much the same, yet altogether different.
After the publication of the original parable, Artama & The Book of Knowledge & Wisdom, I was asked to write a sequel. As a singer-songwriter, I had written many songs but never thought about writing books for children. Artama & The Book of Knowledge & Wisdom had been a one-time affair. Then, the idea came to write a series of books following the lives of the original characters as they grew older. As the characters matured, so would the style and complexity of the books. The second book, Artama & The Watchtower Portal, is for teens, and the third book, Artama & The New Kingdom, is for adults.
Eventually, there may be a final book—a collection of short stories—for adults of advanced age.
Artama & The Watchtower Portal has received the Readers’ Favorite Five-Star Award. Some of the comments follow:
“Bruce Paul’s young adult epic fantasy, Artama & The Watchtower Portal: The Second Journey, is filled with color, sound, and magic . . . .”
“. . . Feels authentic, aged, and with just the right touch of mystical edge.”
“. . . Truly a one-of-a-kind, enchanting YA fantasy . . . brought together through a flawless and poetic writing style . . . .”
“. . . The author creates layers of meaning everywhere . . . .”
“. . . A must-read for those who love fantasy, whether young or old.”
